Interface story

The design in detail.
One connected experience.

PANTRY kitchen organization homepage with inventory and grocery-planning dashboard

01 — Project overview

PANTRY brings the everyday grocery routine into one clear workspace. It helps people understand what they already have, use food before it expires, spot essentials that are running low, and prepare the next shopping trip without repeatedly checking every cupboard.

02 — Problem

Kitchen inventory is spread across cupboards, the fridge, and the freezer. That makes it easy to forget what is available, buy duplicates, or notice expiring food too late. The product needed to make those signals useful without turning a household routine into heavy administration.

03 — My role

  • Full-stack application development
  • Inventory and shopping workflows
  • Authentication and data-access implementation
  • Product and interface design

04 — Technical architecture

Frontend
Next.js · TypeScript
Backend & auth
Supabase · authentication
Database
PostgreSQL · Row Level Security
Hosting
Vercel

05 — Engineering challenge

Inventory records need to stay useful across pantry, fridge, and freezer views while authenticated data remains scoped by row-level access rules.

06 — Approach

I organized the experience around four frequent questions: what is here, what should be used first, what is running low, and what belongs on the shopping list. The homepage explains that rhythm while the live demo carries it into a focused day-to-day dashboard.

07 — Solution

Next.js and TypeScript connect the responsive interface to Supabase-backed inventory and shopping workflows. Authentication and Row Level Security protect account-specific data, while clear summaries and gentle attention cues keep the experience practical.

08 — Backend & data

PANTRY uses Supabase and PostgreSQL for its application backend, with authentication and Row Level Security for account-specific data. The live project connects those data workflows to the kitchen dashboard.

09 — Key features

  • Pantry, fridge, and freezer inventory
  • Expiration tracking
  • Low-stock monitoring
  • Shopping list planning

10 — Outcome

The live product includes a polished marketing experience and an interactive demo workspace that shows the complete kitchen-organizing direction—from inventory awareness to expiration prompts and grocery planning.

11 — What I learned

Household tools work best when they reduce checking. Showing the next useful action at the right moment can make an organized routine feel natural instead of demanding.

Portfolio note. These visuals present the product direction and interface scope in a client-friendly format. Live previews and public repositories are linked where available.
